Best Shaker Setup in Sandustry: A Reliable Diagonal Gold Line

Build a Sandustry Shaker setup that spreads Wet Sand, clears Residue, and makes Gold collection easy to diagnose.

Short answer

Place Shakers as a downward diagonal staircase. Feed Wet Sand at the high end, collect Gold underneath, and leave the low side open for Residue. The density difference helps incoming Wet Sand settle while Residue is lifted and moved off the row.

Why diagonal beats flat

Shakers push Residue slowly. On a flat row, thick piles bridge across machines and make it hard to see which unit is starved. A descending line uses gravity and thin layers to keep more of the surface active.

  • Input at the upper end
  • Gold collection corridor below
  • Residue exit at the lower end
  • Maintenance access along one side

Build order

  1. 1

Dig or build a descending channel.

  2. 2

Place each Shaker one step down from the previous unit.

  3. 3

Create an uninterrupted empty space under the row for Gold.

  4. 4

Add the Wet Sand feed only after both outputs are clear.

  5. 5

Run a small batch, then widen the input gradually.

Frequently asked questions

Can Gold pass through a Shaker?

Yes. Gold is the only solid pixel the current Shaker allows through; other solids remain on top.
